Exceptional Propos lounge armchair by Hulmefa, manufactured in the 1960s in Nieuwe Pekela, the Netherlands.
This rare Dutch design chair is executed in teak and upholstered with a fabric in warm shades of white, brown and yellow. With its elegant, sculptural shape and innovative design, this armchair belongs to Hulmefa's iconic Propos series.
Originally, this is a so-called "gentlemen's chair," which is reflected in the high backrest. At that time, gentlemen were expected to be able, after a day's work - often with smokes in their hands - to lean back quietly. A high backrest was therefore considered appropriate and comfortable.
The lounge armchair has been reupholstered, making it sit like new again. Thanks to its elegant, organic shape, this piece of furniture is a pleasure to look at and a real eye-catcher in any interior.
