Mid-century teak highboard S21 by Dieter Waeckerlin for Behr
This mid-century teak highboard S21 was designed in the early 1950s by Dieter Waeckerlin and manufactured by Behr in Germany. The piece is a textbook example of early modernist thinking: clean lines, rational construction, and a complete focus on function and proportion. No excess, no decoration—just balance and tranquility.
The highboard is made of warm teak with a fine and even grain pattern that runs beautifully across the sleek, handle-free doors. The understated fronts give the furniture a serene look, while the slender metal legs provide airiness and lightness. Behind the double doors is a well-thought-out layout with several adjustable shelves in light wood, which contrasts subtly with the teak. At the bottom are two beautifully integrated drawers, virtually invisible in the front and perfectly incorporated into the whole.
The furniture is in very good condition, with only a few slight signs of wear consistent with its age. The wood has been carefully inspected and refreshed, preserving its original character and natural patina.
A timeless highboard for lovers of understated design, craftsmanship, and furniture that doesn't scream, but stays.
